This book is dedicated to all the people discriminated against in the history of this country.

The California Gold rush was a huge discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill in-- you guessed it-- California between the years 1849 to 1855.

The people who came to California in 1849 to search for gold were called forty-niners. Because so many forty-niners came to find gold, cities of fast growing populations and businesses popped up (these types of cities are called "boomtowns"). A major example of a boomtown because of the gold rush would be San Francisco!
