Dedicated to My family
By : Viktor Zaev
The flooding of settlers rushed into Oregon during the 1830's. They were all American settlers. Then others heard about the fertile land and came rushing into Oregon. There was a ton of people emigrating away from their homeland because of political and economical issues after the Civil War.
Life on the Oregon Trail:
Life on the Oregon Trail was not the best style of living. Their daily routine was waking up early the morning, and worked and traveled all day. The Oregon Trail could only be traveled by horseback or on foot. By the year 1836, the first of the migrant train of wagons was put together. That made traveling way easier.
Reasons to go immigrate to the Oregon Trail. While settlers traveled west along the Oregon Trail for a variety of reasons, most were motivated either by land or gold. Various land acts in Oregon provided free land to pioneers, while the start of the California Gold Rush in 1848 lured thousands more.Emigrants moved in part due to the widespread economic depression of the 1830's and '40's, while others were fleeing the political result of the Civil War.
There were lots of dangers either traveling to Oregon Trail, or just living at the Oregon Trail. Crossing rivers were probably the most dangerous thing pioneers did. Swollen rivers could tip over and drown both people and oxen. Such accidents could cause the loss of life and most or all of valuable supplies. Animals could panic when wading through deep, swift water, causing wagons to overturn.
