Joseph smith's journey started when he was born on December 23, 1805 in Sharon Vermont.

In 1817 he moved to new York at the age of twelve. During this time, New York was an intense religious revivalism during the second great awakening .

In October of 1827 Joseph and his pregnant wife moved from Palmyra, to Pennsylvania.

After Joseph had has his baby he soon moved to Utah, and they had decided to settle near the rocky mountains.

Joseph had decided to settle in Utah, because the mormons were driven out of every other place that they had previously been.The mormons also settled in Utah because it was a peice of land no one wanted to go, so it was alreasdy free for them.

Some mormon leaders claimed that Utah had been revealed by God to them, so that is why they settled so close to the rocky mountains.
