Hi! My name is Jenny and today I am turning 8 years old. To celebrate my birthday my mom and I are planning my very own birthday party! I am very excited for my party, but I think I need a little help getting ready. Will you help me plan my party?

First I need to know how many friends I invited. I invited 6 boys and 7 girls. How many people did I invite all together?

6 + 7 = ?

Next, I need to make sure I have enough seats for all my friends. I have 8 chairs. Is that enough for my friends and I?

Is 8 > = < than 14

> = <

You don't think that's enough? Me neither. 8 is less than 14 so I will need some more. How many more chairs will I need so that everyone can have one? If I have 8 chairs already and I need 14 in total then how many chairs am I missing?

8 + ? = 14

Now it's time to see if I have enough tails to play pin the tale on the donkey! I have 9 donkey tails with bows and 5 donkey tails without bows. How many tails do I have all together?

9 + 5 = ?

Wow! The perfect number! Not it's time for the yummiest part of the party: The cake! I have 9 pieces of cake cut. Will that be enough cake for my friends and I?

Is 9 > = < than 14
> = <

Hm, you're right. 9 is less than 14 so that's not enough cake. How many more pieces do I need so that everybody can have cake?

I almost forgot! We can't have a cake without candles to blow out! I need 8 candles since I am turning 8 years old. I have 5 pink candles, 3 blue candles and 4 white candles. How many candles do I have all together?

?
5 + 3 + 4 = ?
