Back in the early 1900's there was a man named George Herman Ruth. He was born in a small town in Maryland. He was a young boy who had a big passion for baseball. Also he was in a family of 4.
When he was young was not the best kid so his parents sent him to St. Mary's Industrial School for troublesome boys. He was in the orphanage for 12 years.
So when he went back home his brother Matthias introduced Babe to baseball. He excelled in baseball and by the age of 15 Babe was exceptional at hitting and pitching.
Babes attention was caught by Jack Dunn because of his pitching. He was the owner of Baltimore Orioles Minor League team. Jack grew confident in Babes performance.
Babe was on the team for a couple weeks. Later he got called up to Boston and was now in the Major leagues. But Boston didn't pay the debts so the New York Yankees picked him up.
When he left Boston to be a Yankee the Red Sox didn't win another world series till 2004. They called it " The Curse of the Bambino". In his first season he hit 54 home runs.
In his second season he hit 59. Then about 6 years later he set the record with 60 home runs. This record stood for 30 years. So they called Yankee Stadium,"The house that Ruth built."
Over his career Ruth broke many records. In all he hit 714 home runs. That record stood for many years. Then Ruth retired. Later years he got another chance for the Braves.
