Introduction to the Digital Learning Tool: Storyjumper, an Online Publishing Tool.

Cost: StoryJumper is free to use at school and home. There is an option to pay to have your story “published”. They make a physical book out of your story! A hard cover copy is $22.95, soft cover $12.95. You can print a black and white copy for free one time. You can download and print a color copy for $2.95.

Time:I watched a 4-minute tutorial on how to use StoryJumper and was then able to use it quite easily. All content downloaded in less than 30 seconds.

Ease of use: It is well structured and easy to navigate. One wouldn’t necessarily have to be a proficient reader or English reader to utilize this tool. All tabs were labeled with words and pictures. StoryJumper provides many images you can use. You also have the option to upload any images you want quite easily with the click of a tab.

Networking: When signing up for StoryJumper you have the option to click a box that reads “ I am a teacher and I want to use StoryJumper in the classroom with my students”. There is a tab in the tool entitled “Share”. This tab gives you the option to “ Publish” so your students, teacher, or classmates can see your story. When you are reading other’s stories you can “like” it, and comment on it. It also gives you the option to share on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, email to friends and family or just copy the link. You can share other people’s stories in this way as well.

Reliability: StoryJumper is a widely-used tool that has been around for over a year. I did not experience any glitches or freezes. I was never kicked off. StoryJumper continuously saves your work. There is no possibility for you to lose what you are working on.
