Radium was a pretty reactive metal and this specific atom didn't have many friends because of it. His name was Carl.
Carl
He also couldn't go outside due to the fact that he would react with the Nitrogen in the air.
Because of this he was stuck in his basement all alone all day long.
Until one day, when he found what he thought was the perfect match for him....two Chlorine atoms.
The group matched up very well and were always together, as if they were bonded together.
The radium atom was always in charge, and in the middle of the two chlorine atoms. He was also the largest of the group.
The three seemed to bond quite well because each chlorine atom is looking for one extra electron, but radium is looking for two, so he needs two chlorine atoms.
