Hi, my name is Franklin and today I am going to learn all about world religions !
Would you like to join me on my adventure? I could really use your help !
Thanks for your help! Now Franklin can start his first adventure: Aboriginal Spirituality, stick around !
Franklin starts off his adventure by asking his parents about Aboriginal Spirituality
Mommy and Daddy ! Im on an adventure and this time im exploring the different world religions. Can you please tell me what you know about Aboriginal Spirituality?
Yes Franklin we sure can! First off Aboriginal people are very religious and spiritual, but rather than generally praying to a single God they cannot see, each group generally believes in a number of different deities, whose image is often depicted in some tangible recognizable form.
Aboriginal people speak and teach their beliefs though sacred oral texts and stories, body arts, ceremonial dances and art at sacred sites. Elders can be sacred people in this religion. Elders are aboriginal men or women who are recognized, respected and consulted for their wisdom and experience.
There is no formal place of worship for this religion as well. Worship takes place in open air and also within a long house.
One interesting festival from this religion is called Pow Wow. This is a celebration of American Indian culture in which people from diverse indigenous nations gather for the purpose of dancing, singing, and honoring the traditions of their ancestors. Pow Wow takes place in a circle blessed by a holy leader.
Well that was mighty nice of my mom to teach us about Aboriginal Spirituality. Now lets move on and learn about another religion...Judaism!
One thing I know about Judaism is that God is understood to be the complete one, and incomparable being who is the ultimate cause of all existence. He is the beginning and the end.
Also, the synagogue is the Jewish people place of worship, but is also sometimes used as a place to study. Lets go explore more to find out more about this religion.
Hi Franklin! Nice to see you, I could certainly teach you about Judaism. First things first, the Torah is the foundation text of the religion and the first 5 books. The Torah is part of the larger text known which is known as the Hebrew Bible.
Some sacred figures in the Jewish religion include Abraham, Moses, King Solomon, Isaac, Jacob, and God.
Also a major festival in Judaism is Rosh Hashannah which is the Jewish New year. It is celebrated in lots of different ways by different kinds of Jews
Franklin did you know that in Islam God is strictly singular unique inherently One, all-merciful and omnipotent.
Yes I did know that Boots! What an interesting religion. In fact they practice their religion at Mosque where they pray and worship God. Lets go find out more!
The Quran and the Haddith are the two major sacred texts of Islam.
Thats interesting, however who are the sacred people in the Islamic religion?
Some sacred people in the Islamic religion include Muhammad, and the Prophet Ibrahim.
And Franklin, let me tell you about one major Islamic festival! Eid al-Fitr is the Celebration concluding Ramadan. Ramadan is the month of fasting where participants go without food, this ends with the festival of Eid al-Fitr. Literally the "Festival of Breaking the Fast,"
What we learned so far has been so interesting! Now I would like to learn about Hinduism. My mom taught me before that in general Hindu's consider God to be not just the Supreme all-powerful Gigantic One, who commands the humanity to tread the way He/She/It says, but also a personal God who the individual can worship out of love and not necessarily out of fear.
