“A master can teach many things. But the most important lesson for a ninja is to learn oneself.” - Jarius Raphel

I was feeling restless one Saturday afternoon so I went outside with my ball and bat and decided to play some baseball. I hit the ball a little too hard and it ended up smashing one the neighbour's windows. I thought about running away but probably would've been caught so I went over to apologize.

"I believe this belongs to you" the elderly man said as he handed me my baseball. "I'm so sorry sir. I promise that I'll pay for a new window." "You absolutely will." "It's just that I don't have any money right now. Maybe I could get an advance on my allowance?" "I'll make you a deal. If you come here after school and do some chores for the next couple of weeks, I won't charge you for the window." "Yes sir."

When I got home I told my parents about what had happened. They supported it one hundred percent. My Mom said that it would teach me some responsibility. While my Dad believed that doing chores would be a good way for me to burn off some energy. It wasn't easy working for the neighbor. I spent a lot of hot afternoons pulling out weeds from his garden.

I really didn't know much about my neighbor. Heck, I didn't even know his name. Every Friday he would pay me five dollars for my work. It was payday so showed up and knocked on his front door a few times. Nobody answered and the door was unlocked so I decided to walk inside. My neighbour's house was pretty simple as he didn't have a TV or much furniture...and hold on a minute! What's that?

"What are you doing here?" "I'm so sorry. The door was open so I decided to let myself in." "Just don't touch those Katanas. They have special powers." "Really?" "Oh well, I might as well tell you all about them. Back when I was your age, I helped out an elderly Japanese man named Mr. Takahashi. He promised to teach me karate if I did chores for him. Actually all I ever learned was how to paint a fence and wax his car." "What about the swords?"

One day we were attacked by a secret society of ninjas known as 'The Too Wong Fu Clan.' They desperately wanted the powerful Katanas." While Mr. Takahashi fought them off, I escaped with the swords. That was the last time I ever saw Mr. Takahashi. I've lived in fear of the ninjas finding me but so far I've been pretty lucky.

As the old man and I talked, a couple of arrows zipped past me. "Oh no! I recognized those arrows. It's The Too Wong Fu Clan. They've finally found me. You take this Katana while I take the other one and hide in the basement." "That hardly seems fair." "It's the only way we can find out if you are worthy of holding that sword."

The Katana was so heavy I could barely hold onto it. I felt weak, as if I was going to faint before I suddenly felt a jolt of energy coursing through my veins. Soon I was doing all types of awesome sword tricks. I looked in the mirror only to see a full-fledged Ninja Warrior staring back at me. And that Ninja Warrior was me!
