"What is now proved was once only imagined."
William Blake
Every Saturday morning I would get my weekly allowance and race off to the comic book store. I loved reading my comic books and Saturday mornings were the highlight of the week. I couldn't wait to get home to read about the latest adventures of my favourite heroes.

As soon as I got home, I rushed through my chores so I would have the afternoon to myself. I bought 6 comic books and read them all in record time. I still wanted something to read to so I took a look at the back of one the books. There were all kinds of ads for Sea Monkeys and other crazy things. And then I saw an ad for X-Ray glasses. They looked so cool. I had to have them.
X-Ray
Glasses
I saved up my allowance for a few weeks and didn't buy any comic books. I sent my money to the company that made the X-ray glasses and within a week they had arrived. I couldn't wait to try them on. I was going to be able to see through walls and human skin. "Thanks Hawkeye!" I shouted to the mailman. "Enjoy your special delivery kid!"
I ran inside and put on my new X-Ray glasses. I held out my hand expecting to see bones. But all I saw was my hand. I then tried to look through my bedroom wall and once again, saw nothing. What a ripoff! These glasses were junk. What a waste of money. Well, at least I could use them for sunglasses on sunny days.
I could barely pay attention at school the next day. I was so upset that the X-Ray glasses I had ordered didn't work. "Jeremy!" "Yes Ms. Landers?" "Go to the Principal's office immediately!" "But I didn't do anything." "Now!" That was strange. Jeremy rarely spoke a word in class. He was the third kid sent to the office this morning already.
To amuse my classmates I decided to put on my X-Ray glasses. "Miles Bennett! Take off those glasses right now!" "Okay" I replied hesitating to remove them. "Take them off Miles!" she repeated. I could've sworn that Ms. Landers looked like an alien. "I'm only going to ask you one more time Miles..." I took off the glasses. But what had I just seen? Thankfully the bell rang and it was time for lunch.
During our lunch break, the playground is usually full of happy, laughing kids. But today there was hardly anyone there. It was a beautiful day outside so where was everybody? "Hi Miles. Cool glasses" someone said to me. "Huh?" "Earth to Miles, it's me, Judy." "Oh sorry Judy. Do things seem a little strange to you?" "Nope. Just you!" she said as she skipped away. Maybe it was just me.
Eventually our lunch break was over and it was time to head back to class. As I made my way to math class, I bumped into Mr. Serling the gym teacher. "Cool glasses Miles" he remarked. Oh no! Not another one. "Um, thanks" I nervously replied as I started to sprint to the classroom. Why aren't the other kids seeing this?
HALL
PASS
When I got to my math class I noticed that there was hardly anybody there. Where was everyone? I was really feeling uncomfortable and started to sweat. "Mr. Romero, may I go to the washroom?" "Okay Miles. Here's the Hall Pass. And don't forget to take off your sunglasses." "What? Oh, yeah. Silly me" I nervously chuckled.
