Long ago there was a group of Americans called the founding fathers. They wanted the United States to have the best government in the whole world but they were stuck on how to do it. They spent days figuring out ways to create the perfect government. Sadly they kept getting stuck. How would they think of a good form of government for their fellow Americans?

After days of thinking the founding fathers finally came up with an idea!

They decided to use ideas from past governments and mix them together to make the basis of their government. They chose to call it a Democracy. Democracy is a combination of two Greek words Demo- meaning people and -cracy meaning rule. Everybody loved their idea but they couldn't do it alone. They needed help and there was only one person who could do the job.

The Flash of course! He runs so fast that he can run through time. He is going to help the founding fathers by going back in time and learning all about the different ancient forms of democracy. Then they can create their perfect government and the United States will officially be the land of the free.

The Flash ran and ran until he ended up in his first destination, Ancient Greece.

When the Flash arrived in Athens,Greece he was amazed by what he saw. It was revolutionary. The Greeks were some of the first people to have a democratic style of government. Every Athenian citizen received a vote. This was called direct democracy. It was a good basis for America's government but America was much bigger than Ancient Greece. The Flash needed to get a few more ideas to make it it fit what the founding fathers wanted.
