Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Timmy, he was in 5th grade. Today he learned about the food chain and food web. His homework was to make an energy pyramid and label it. However, Timmy was very confused.

Timmy decided to go on a walk to get some ideas. On his way, he met a wizard named Bob. Timmy asked Bob for help and Bob agreed. They then, set out on an adventure to try to help Timmy.

Timmy and Bob stopped in the forest and saw a great example of a food chain! Bob explained that a food chain is how living things get food, and how the energy is passed down from each creature . He showed Timmy that the grass was at the bottom and the hawk was at the top of the food chain. The grasshopper ate the grass, the frog ate the grasshopper, the snake ate the frog, and the hawk ate the snake.

As they continued their adventure, Bob and Timmy came across a desert. Bob thought that this ecosystem would be perfect to use as an example for a food web. So, Bob explained to Timmy what a food web was.
