There aren't always plenty of fish in the sea...

The ocean is filled with billions of wildlife, open for anyone to use for any purpose. Fishermen catch fish and sell to hungry families all over. Over 1 billion families depend on fish as a source of food. It is a fisherman's job to feed families worldwide.

Once a while, a fisherman comes to a certain place to take and sell fish for hungry people. He takes a few fish, and the fish reproduce to make new baby fish!

The fisherman needs to limit how many fish he takes, so the fish have time to reproduce. If the fisherman did not give time for the fish to reproduce, the fish would be gone. When fishermen overfish it causes the fish to disappear, meaning less food for hungry families. 90% of fish stocks are already gone due to overfishing.

The fisherman decides he was going to take a few more fish today, since he needed the money. He thought it would mean no harm. And he did the same the next day.

The fisherman caught so many fish everyday, there was no more fish to reproduce. This caused all of the fish to be gone for a very long time, the fisherman had to find somewhere else to fish. This time the fisherman would fish carefully and limit his fish.

After years and years of fishing the right way and making sure to not overfish, the fish had enough time to reproduce. The fish eventually made baby fish and this special place was finally full of beautiful fish.

Overfishing is bad for the environment and if we continue overfishing the way we are, all of the seafood could be gone by 2048. Fisherman have been causing the population in fish to go down by half since the 1970s. To help overfishing become less of a problem, we can limit the amount of fish we take and we can protect important inhabitants.
