"To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler."
SUMMARY
After his marriage, Dr Wilson moved out from the Holmes investigative world. One day, passing through Baker Street, he decides to visit his old and dear friend. He visits Sherlock on the same day that King Wilhelm of Boemia, initially disguised with a mask, brings Holmes a new case.
He tells them that some years earlier, he fell in love with a young girl called Irene Adler. The woman isn’t only beautiful but also possessive.
His engagement to another woman, a princess, will soon be announced,
and Irene Adler has sworn to stop the wedding. She threatens to publish
a compromising photograph of the king and her, thereby creating a scandal that would ruin the marriage. He tried to take that picture in every way, but Irene Adler has always refused or hidden the photo, So he asks Holmes to help him.

The next morning, Holmes disguises himself as a seedy-looking horse groom and goes to the neighborhood Miss Adler’s house looking for a clue to pick up.
He goes to the Irene's house and talks to her stallists and he finds that she attends a lawyer .... and ends up by chance to become their wedding witness.

Meanwhile Watson is still waiting for Holmes, who comes home laughing. Curious about this behavior, Watson asks for an explanation to his friend, who says he enjoyed the experience he just had, asking Watson if he wants to take part in his plan to find out where the picture is. Watson agrees and they go to Irene's home.
Subsequently, Holmes and Watson simulate a dispute in which the detective, disguised as a priest, pretends to be hurt in an attempt to defend Irene, who invites him to come home to thank him. Watson externally launches a smoke to simulate a fire.

This prompts the woman to head to the most dearest thing in her room, that is, the cache of photography, to save it. Irene, however, understands the trick and gets away with the photograph, after replacing it with another one showing herself.
Holmes determines the location of the photo, but when he and his client go to retrieve it, he learns that Adler has already moved the photo.
She left an her photo with a dedication to the detective in which she compliments with him. Wilhelm need not worry, however: Adler has just gotten married and has no desire to prevent Wilhelm's wedding now.

Holmes is struck by the ingenuity and ability of the woman, so that, when the prince offers to pay for the services rendered, he chooses to take the picture of the woman without accepting anything else.
