Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was an explorer of Texas.

He was from Jerez de la Frontera Spain.

They anchored near what is known as the Jungle Prada Site in St. Petersburg

November 6th 1528, Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecked off the coast of Texas.

Cebaza's trails continued for years as a small party and barely stayed alive trading with Indians in modern day east Texas. They were captured by the Karankawa Indians and they lived in slavery. After earning their respect by becoming a skilled medicine man, he gained their freedom.
