Cabeza de Vaca began his journey from Europe to Texas, but his ship crashed on Galveston Island. He was the first European to set foot on Texas, and was originally searching for gold, but did a lot more.

Most of his crew died until there were only 3 men left due to attacks, starvation, and dehydration.

They began to explore the Gulf Coastal region of Texas
