This is Jimmy. Jimmy loves to go fishing with his dad. Even though he loves to do it, he will still have some bad days doing it.

One day, Jimmy and his dad went fishing on a great big lake on his dads boat. This trip was special because his dad let him decide what he was going to use for bait.

Jimmy thought he knew what he needed to catch a fish, but he was sadly wrong. He tried his favorite bait. Nothing. He tried something else. Nothing. He tried ones that spin, ones that shake, even some that just sit still. He tried so many different baits over and over, but nothing seemed to work.

Jimmy was confused and discouraged after what seemed to be his hundredth bait. He didn’t understand why the fish wouldn’t bite. At this point Jimmy knew he had failed. 

It was about lunch time, and Jimmy had been on the water since sunrise! He was very discouraged, then, he had his first bite, which lead to another and another until he had outfished his dad!

He finally knew that his favorite activities would require more than just skill. He needed experience and determination to make it in the fishing game!
