Paleozoic Era

Beginning and End

The Paleozoic Era lasted from 200 million years ago to 251 million years ago. It start with the creation of life and ends with the largest mass extinction in our planets history.

Plant Life

In the Paleozoic Era, more plants lived on land than in the sea. By the end of the Era all plants moved to the land, these plants were ferns, cycads, pro-gymnosperms, and primitive conifers.

Animal Life

In the sea there were trilobites, branchiopods, and mollusks. The land animals did not exist until later on. Land animals consisted of amphibians, insects, and reptiles.

Climate

The climate at the beginning of the Paleozoic era was moderate, but stabilized during the middle of the era. At the end of the era, the oxygen in the atmosphere increased and carbon dioxide decreased.
