The Adventures of Nani the Labradoodle
When "the girls" from Texas visit the Oregon Coast.
This book is dedicated to:
Layla, Paisley and Josey otherwise known as "the girls"
Their visit with Grandpa Tim and Grandma Nancy was so special that it inspired Grandma Nancy to share their first visit to the Oregon Coast through the eyes of their special Labradoodle, Nani.

The girls are waiting patiently at the airport in Austin, Texas to board their flight to come see me on the Oregon Coast! Of course they are coming to visit my owners too, but I will win their hearts because I am so soft, sweet and do awesome tricks. Another bonus for me is that my owners are their Grandparents and my name, Nani, means beautiful in Hawaiian. I am sure to win their hearts and know I will love them because that is what Labradoodles do!
When they arrive, they are so happy to finally meet me and I can't wait to show them our beautiful Oregon Coast. Such a happy day for all of us!

LOVIN MY CRABBY DAY

Today is our first full day together and the girls first experience on the Pacific Ocean to catch crab! The ocean was supposed to be flat but it felt rough to me. I get nervous when the ocean is rough, so I made sure I was brave for the girls. I helped distract them by teaching them Grandma Nancy's crab cheer, which she is certain, brings us good luck. They did such a great job cheering, we forgot about the rough ocean and caught 31 crabs! Guess their Grandma Nancy knows what she is talking about when it comes to cheering for crab, “C R A B, crab, crab, crab”. I can’t clap or cheer but I sure get excited when the cheering starts and the pots get pulled into the boat with crab running around everywhere! After that we went by the U-Buoy to check for sea lions. Sure enough, I was able to talk to the sea puppies and make everyone laugh. I was relieved to get back to the dock and chill out while the others kept busy cooking and eating the catch of the day, C R A B, crab, crab, crab!

Everyone is watching Layla Now is my chance to pet Nani

The fish weren't the only things caught on camera today!

When we got back from our crabbing trip the girls were excited to see how to clean the crab, cook them and of course eat them. Grandpa Tim hooked the girls up with fishing poles, so they could fish off the dock while the adults worked on the crab preparation. I tried to catch a few ZZZ's while the girls caught lots of cute tiny fish, right off the dock. Little Josey was caught with some cute pictures, petting me when no one was looking. The fish and crab weren’t the only things caught on camera today. This makes me so happy, feeling the love – Labradoodles rock!

This is the busiest day in my whole dog life. We went crabbing this morning, caught fish while we cleaned crab and now we are going to the beach! Good thing I caught some ZZZ’s while the girls were catching fish. When we jumped in the truck, the girls told me how much they loved my beautiful smile. They decided to have a quick contest to see who could smile just like me, before we left to run and play on the beach. When we reached the parking lot, I took the lead and headed down the closest path. The grass was long, which didn’t bother me at all, but I could hear a few squeals from the girls behind me. This is going to be so much fun! The path opened up and I took off running, wanting the girls to chase me and of course, they did. I finally got tired but the girls didn't. I can't believe the girls have more energy than a Labradoodle! I enjoyed watching them run, jump and play in the surf, this is one of my best dog days ever!

SMILE IF YOU LOVE A LABRADOODLE

All three of the girls got to drive Miss NanSea, named after their Grandma Nancy, one of my proud owners. My other proud owner, their Grandpa Tim, did a super job helping each girl drive Miss NanSea up the North Umpqua River. We stopped at the spot where we fish for perch and dropped the anchor. We put our poles in the water and fixed some lunch. We didn’t catch any fish but enjoyed a picnic lunch and playing "Old Maid" to pass the time. Maybe we should have played “Go Fish” instead. I am just a Labradoodle but I think I might be on to something. If the crab cheer helps us catch crab, why wouldn't playing a game of "Go Fish" help us catch fish?

What a small world, my best friend Mollie came to see me during my visit with the girls from Texas. I discovered that Mollie’s owner, Betty, is Courtney’s Grandma and the girls Great Grandma. Wow my best friend Mollie is part of my family – how great is that! She is a small Black Cocker Spaniel and I am a large Cream Labradoodle. I should have known we are family because we are so much alike. We hung out together while they ate dinner. There was a lot of laughter, so I know they had as much fun together as I had with my special family member, Mollie.
