My students explored the hidden mathematical beauty in nature by collecting and transforming leaves into captivating geometric art. By studying patterns and symmetry within natural designs, they deepened their understanding of mathematical concepts in a hands-on and visually expressive way. Using Canva, students designed stunning posters to showcase their unique interpretations, blending creativity with analytical thinking.

My students gathered autumn leaves around and they had chance to touch the nature.Besides they found out the mathematical symmetry in nature by collecting and transforming leaves into captivating geometric art. By this work ,they realized "Mathematics is everywhere"  

Using these autumn leaves, students designed sweet animal figures which include geometrical shapes.

The Ohrid Plane Tree is a magnificent tree over 1,100 years old, located in the center of Ohrid. With its impressive height and wide canopy, it stands as one of the oldest living symbols of the city. This plane tree has witnessed many historical events and generations, and its hollow trunk, large enough to hold several people, sparks the curiosity of visitors. In addition to its ecological and cultural significance, the tree holds spiritual value for the local population. The Ohrid Plane Tree is a true natural monument that tells the story of time and life.

The leaves of the plane tree are particularly striking, shaped like a combination of five deltoids that together create a harmonious and symmetrical form. Their deep green color illuminates the canopy in summer, while in autumn, they transform into a palette of golden-yellow and brown hues. This tree, with its hollow trunk and unique leaves, is a natural monument that tells the story of time and life.

We held a workshop where students connected the beauty of autumn with geometric concepts. Our inspiration was the Ohrid Plane Tree, whose leaf is a unique blend of symmetry and the shape of a deltoid. The students crafted paper leaves in various autumn colors, exploring the symmetry in each leaf's design. It was a wonderful opportunity for creativity and the development of geometric skills inspired by nature. Thanks to their imagination, we created a colorful mosaic of "leaves" that captured the magic of autumn!
