This is Timmy. Timmy is running for Office in 2020.
Timmy has no money, limiting his individual contributions, so he has to ask others to finance his campaign.

Timmy asked PACs, committees organized to raise and spend money to elect candidates, and super PAC's, who may raise unlimited sums, to help finance his campaign.

Timmy and his political party also receive soft money, A contribution that doesn't count as going to him, so he avoids any legal limitations, and hard money, donations that the FEC regulates. A major part of the FECA revolves around the end of soft money abuse from otherwise prohibited sources.

Soft money can be spent infinitely through independent expenditures & issue ads that are associated with a candidate. Limits on independent expenditures were ruled unconstitutional in SpeechNow v. FEC.

Individuals can also donate to nonprofit organizations under 501(c)(4), who are not required to disclose donors. This is referred to as Dark Money.

Timmy 2020
Using these funds accumulated, Timmy successfully defeated the incumbent and became president.
Thanks to the Buckley v. Valeo court case, Timmy was able to spend limitless amounts of money on his election since the case held limiting spending was unconstitutional.

However, the McCain-Feingold/BCRA changed the same law again, prohibiting the soft money Timmy could receive that Political Party Campaigns could raise or spend without federal limits.
