There was once a little girl named Flora who was playing outside and realized she did not feel very good. She later found out that she had a virus called the Flu. She wanted to know how her body would help her get better so her parents explained to her how her immune system worked.

Before they could explain it to her, they had to tell her all about the flu. Even though it is commonly called the flu, the scientific name for it is influenza. It is a virus so its nonliving and you can get it by touching a surface that has flu virus on it and then touching their own mouth or nose.

Some symptoms of the flu are aching muscles, headache, chills, and dry cough. But don't worry! The flu is treated primarily with rest and fluid to let the body fight the infection on its own.

Some of the things in her body that helped fight the flu off were her skin, mucous, white blood cells, t cells, b cells, and a fever.
The skin is the outer layer that help prevent invaders from entering the body.
