This was a short children's story that I made for my Writer's Craft course in school. The visuals were going to be a challenge for me given how unusual my character is, so I decided to make the story with sprites of my design to add a little unique flair to it. I hope you enjoy!

One day in Sunnerei village, Sprocket and her friends were playing in the fields. Sprocket is a robot built to be the best friend a kid could ask for, she's friendly, fun, and with the parent's permission, she can make ice cream of all kinds for everyone.
“I heard a new family moved into town” said a boy named Carlos.
“Yeah, I saw them come in, they also have a kid named Isaac! He is the same age as us!” a girl named Brittany chimed in. This caught Sprocket's attention.
“Maybe he wants to be friends! I welcome new friends like ice cream on a hot summer day!” Sprocket beamed.

“But he stays in his house all the time! I don't even know what he looks like!” Andrew, a boy who wore blue explained. The other kids chimed in agreement.
“I'm not giving up, or my name isn't Sprocket Mark 12!”

Sprocket asked all around the town about the new family and their mysterious son. Sprocket couldn't find anything out because none of the adults knew him either. Sprocket went to go ask Isaac's parents but instead of a mom or a dad answering the door, it was a boy who looked her age.
“Wow, are you Isaac?” Sprocket asked excitedly.
The boy looked scared and quickly closed the door. Defeated, Sprocket made her way home.
Sprocket entered her creator's laboratory, upset with the outcome of her search. Sprocket's Creator, Dr. Eyginrom turned around in his chair with and looked at Sprocket.
“What's wrong, Sprocket?” He asked in his comforting, soft voice.
“I don't think the new boy wants to be friends with me,”
“Who, Isaac? What makes you say that?”
“He always hides from me and he won't talk to me,” pouted Sprocket.
Dr. Eyginrom chuckled to himself and explained “When I was creating you, I thought you would have a problem like this,”

“What do you mean, Papa?”
“Sprocket, everyone is unique in many ways. You and the other kids like to play and run through the fields together, right?
“Yeah,” Sprocket agreed.
“Isaac probably feels uncomfortable around that many people. He probably will enjoy playing more calmly with just a few friends at a time,”
“I don't get it, Papa,” said Sprocket
“That's okay, you'll understand eventually. If anyone can figure it out, it's you,” the Doctor patted her head.
“If you're ever unsure, just remember the inclusion protocol,”
“Okay, thanks Papa,”
Sprocket spent some time thinking about what her creator had said. Sprocket didn't know what to do to talk to Isaac. Just then, she saw Isaac sneaking off into the forest.

Sprocket decided to follow Isaac into the woods, he was new to town and wasn't familiar with the woods but Sprocket had the whole forest mapped out in her data banks.
She kept following until they were deep into the woods. Then, Sprocket accidentally stepped on a branch, making a loud snapping noise.
“Huh? W-Who's there?” Isaac stuttered. Sprocket remained hidden, she just didn't want Isaac to get lost in the forest. Isaac, still trembling turned around and bolted away.
“Hey! Come back!” Sprocket burst out of her hiding spot, failing to notice the slippery mud. Sprocket fell face first into a big stone, making a sharp sounding clank. Taken by surprise, Isaac turned around.

“A-Are you okay?”
“Oh, don't worry about me. I can't get any ouchies!” Sprocket smiled with a dent in her cheek.
“But your cheek!”
“Huh? Wow! That's definitely the closest thing to an ouchie I've ever gotten!”
“Doesn't it hurt?”
“Nope! Papa made me unable to feel pain. Pretty cool right? J-Just let me check if my hardware is damaged,” Sprocket's voice faltered.
“Are you scared?”
“Y-Yeah,” Sprocket admitted, her voice shaking.
“H-Hey, when I'm scared I think of the funniest thing I have ever seen,” Isaac suggested.
“Okay...” Sprocket thought hard about something funny. Sprocket's eyes flickered in effort until her stomach opened up, and a freshly made ice cream was sitting inside. Isaac and Sprocket laughed together at the unexpected outcome.
Sprocket played with Isaac afterwards, but it was different with Isaac. They didn't run around or play tag. Isaac just wanted to look at the forest and the animals. Sprocket liked the forest too, so she did the same.
“Hey Isaac, do you want to be friends?” Sprocket offered.
“Okay,” Isaac agreed.
“Yay! I can't wait to introduce you to everyone else!” Sprocket Happily told him.
