Hey guys! My name is Barry. Ever since I was a little brain I have wondered what our brains are made out of and what they do. Come along with me and let's learn about how brains like me work!

To start, let's go over the 4 main parts of the brain!

Firstly, this part is called the Frontal Lobe and is at the front of our brain. This lobe helps us make decisions- like what movie to watch or what to eat for lunch! It also helps us be able to move the rest of our body- like walking or writing!

Second, this part is called the Temporal Lobe and is at the sides of our brain, kind of by our ears. This lobe helps us understand sounds and language- especially when we talk to one another! We also hold memories in this area, but we'll get to that later.

The third part is called the Parietal Lobe, located at the very top of our brain. This lobe processes our senses that we feel- like feeling the warmth from a campfire or petting a soft puppy!

The fourth and last part is called the Occipital Lobe and is located at the back of our brain. This lobe processes the information from what we see through our eyes- like when we watch tv!

As I said earlier, the Temporal Lobes can be used for holding memories. These memories are stored in a smaller part of these lobes on each side of the brain called the Hippocampus. Funny name right? The memories held here are long-term. This means you can remember them for a long time!

One important part of the brain that is not found in a lobe is the Cerebellum. The cerebellum is in charge of balance and coordination which means that your movements will be smooth and easy.

Another cool part of your brain is the Pons. Like the cerebellum, the pons is not found in a lobe. This part is what helps your brain communicate with itself by sending information from the brain to different parts of your body!

In the middle of your brain is the Corpus Callosum! You can find this part in the temporal lobe. Its job is to connect the 2 halves of your brain so that they can "talk" or send information to each other!

Your brain isn't just made up of lobes and structures. It also has 3 cortex's! For example, your Motor Cortex generates movement. This is what helps you dance, swim, and play other sports!

Lastly, your Visual Cortex is what tells your brain what your eyes are seeing. Without that cortex, you wouldn't be able to watch movies or look at pictures!
