The Lakota Sioux were made up of seven major tribes. This makes up the largest group of The Great Dakota Nation both by quantity and physically.

Mandan were the first Plains Village group to become a modern Indian Tribe. They are also apart of the Three Affiliated Tribes.

Nomadic means wandering. Tribes would follow herds of game animals and gathering plants for food.

Oyate Tribe is also known as the Sisston-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. This is not considered a North Dakota Tribe.
