Section 1
My Mom’s pregnancy was calm and fairly normal with no complications. My mom started eating more vegetables that before but she gained 50 pounds from me and a lot of water. Since my mom thought that I was the last pregnancy she was going to have, wanted it to be the best. With her pregnancy glow she believed that she was more beautiful so she started to dress nicer.
Why were you given your name? I was named “Brittney” because at the time Britney Spears was very popular and my mom liked the name.
What were other names your parent’s were considering? Include both male and female. No female names, and Bryan. My mom always liked the name Brittney and had no other names if I was a female but I turned out to be a boy then I would be called Bryan after Kobe Bryant the famous NBA player.
SECTION 2: Your Physical Development
How long was your mother in labor? My mom was in labor for 8 hours in the hospital. I was born at 4:13 p.m at the Medical City Hospital in Plano.
What was your birth weight and length? On April 14th, 2002 I was born at 8 lbs and 60 oz and 20 inches long.
How old were you when your first tooth came in? I was around six months when my tooth came in but my mom isn’t certain.
How old were you when you took your first step? I was a year old when I started walking. At around eight months I started crawling then my parents moved me to a baby walker where I could roam around the house with and play on.
When were you officially potty trained? At two years old I started using a mini toilet and pull ups. My mom would use pull ups just in case of an emergency but I did start using underwear too.
When did you lose your first tooth? I lost my tooth in 1st grade around the age 6 at my house. It was my front tooth and soon after that my next front tooth came out.
What is your current vision? If you have glasses or contacts, what age did you get them? I have had both glasses and contacts in third grade at age 8. All of my siblings have glasses and most of my dad’s side of the family have poor eyesight vision and wear glasses.
Puberty is when your body starts growing and developing. Puberty comes at different ages for different people. All the hormones in our body start going into adult levels and the chemicals start moving in our body. Many girls in junior high started having their periods or already had them.
Jennifer was an early bloomer who was best friends with Ashley who was a late bloomer. Jennifer had many girls jealous of her at school because of the attention boys gave her. While Ashley was not matured even everyone else was and felt alienated because boys would not pay much attention to her and she could not relate as well to the rest of her friends. Both Jennifer and Ashley had a difficult time dealing with puberty, both feeling uncomfortable, but felt normal once everyone had gone through it.
What was your first word? My first word is “papa” which is dad in Spanish.
When did you say your first word? I was only nine months when I said my first word which is the average age a baby says their first word.
Why was this word the first you said? My dad wouldn’t force me put my mom would say “mama” and I would respond with the opposite.
Were there any funny sounds, words, and/or phrases you used to use? Is so, what did these phrases mean? At the same age I would say “teta” which meant bottle in Spanish, this just meant I wanted some milk. I would also say “si” or “no” when asked a question. When my aunt would take care of me, should would ask me “What sound does your dad make?,” and I would then blow a raspberry to my aunt to imitate my dad’s farts to be funny.
Did you experience any language barriers during language formation (i.e. stuttering, lisp, etc.)? I did experience learning a new language and having a heavy accent this made me go to ESL but no complications once I started speaking more English.
Who were you most attached to and why? Attachment is an emotional tie with another person; shown in young children by their seeking closeness to the caregiver and showing distress on separation. I was more attached to my mom because she was around me more than my dad because he was always working. Growing up it was easier to talk to her about my issues and my dad wouldn’t understand fully. My mom was the one who fed me and cared for me.
Define “imprinting” and explain whether this theory supports your attachment. Imprinting the process by which certain animals form strong attachments during an early life critical period. No, I had a sensitive period where I become attached where I did what was familiar.
