It was late at night and Guy had just returned home after the meeting with the other Catholics. His wife, Anna, was sitting on a chair holding a candle, anxiously waiting for him.

Him and a few other Catholics , had reached the decision that they had to act fast in order to kill King James I so as England would retun to Catholism.

Anna was a 28- year- old ginger haired girl. Anna΄s family was Protestant but she followed Guy as she fell in love with him. King James I had been prosecuting Catholics.
Anna believed that wasn't fair so she was supporting the decision to blow up the Parliament.
But, she couldn't help feeling worried and upset about her husband's decision to join the cause. She supported him no matter how dangerous it seemed to be.

It was exactly after carrying the barrels of gunpowder that he came home.
Anna knew that if anything went wrong her life would be ruined. So they said nothing and they ate in silence.
On 4th of November, Guy Fawkes was in the cellar trying to light matches in order to blow up the House of Parliaments.
His wife, Anna, was by his side, despite the fact that she was pregnant. They heard the guards coming and Guy made his wife hide because he didn't want her to get caught.

How did they know? asked Anna, in a panic.

I have no idea.This can't be happening.
What both didn't know was that one of the plotters had sent a letter to Lord Monteangle to inform him of the plan. That letter was the reason why the plan failed.

I am so sorry Anna , something must have gone wrong. You should hide.

I won't leave you.
