To my mom who always taught me to learn about the Gold Rush

The year was 1848 and I was enjoying reading a book about animals. When all of a sudden my mother and father came rushing inside yelling " We are going to California to get gold ." I was wondering what was going on ? Mother said with joy " John Sutter has spotted gold and we are going to try to find some."
I couldn't believe we were going to go try to get gold it was the best thing ever.Mother told me to gather all my things and put them in the wagon. I went as fast has I could. " Mother ." I asked " Are we leaving today?" Yes, she yelled from the kitchen.
This is our wagon we use to go places
Before I new it we were in the wagon on our way to California I was so excited . On my way there I write a note to my cousin in England to tell her we were on our way .
Dear Sally,
We are on our way to California I can't wait to arrive . Father says we will have a nice new little cottage to stay at I am not sure I want to move ,but my father says it is the right thing to do. The road is very bumpy and it is very hot. Well I best be going the wagon wheel got stuck in the mud again. Love your cousin,
Mary
On our way there we ran into some trouble. Our wagon kept getting stuck in ruts made by other wagons . It was rough. We made it though and it was just fine .
This is some ruts we couldn't stop getting stuck in.
