Dedicated to Mrs. Davis

Hi, I am Callista. I am 16 years old and the current year is 3045. I wanted to create this book to share with you my journey back in time two years ago when I experienced five religions!

It all started off when I was in 9th grade when my teacher decided that my class would go on a field trip back in time to experience past religions since my class had a hard time understanding the concept.

I had spent all the days leading up to my trip wondering and dreaming about my trip, and finally, on April 9th, 3043, the day had came!

My class hopped on our time machine and flew back in time to the 6th century BCE! We were going to learn about Hinduism first.

namaskaar!
Welcome to India! Hinduism originated from this place and this is one of the many temples where they worship their gods in!
The symbol of Hinduism is:

We don't really know who founded Hinduism but we can tell that they worshiped many gods. Some gods they worship are Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.
Their sacred texts is the Vedas or known as "books of knowledge." They believe that truth is eternal, Brahma is truth and reality and the goal of the Atman "soul" is Moksha.

Next, we went to 5th century BC, Lumbini (present day Nepal) to learn more about Buddhism.
Here we are class! Lumbini! The founder of Buddhism is a man named Siddhartha Guatama.
Our gods that we worship are Yama - God of death, Kubera - God of wealth, and White Brahma and we worship in temples!

Here is a very wise Buddhist who will tell us about very important rules in Buddhism.

In Buddhism, there are two main sets of rules we follow. First, the Four Noble truths which tells us the meaning behind life and it's events.
Second, the Eight fold Path is also followed and used which shows eight guidelines for good character and Karma in Buddhism.

The symbol that we use to represent Buddhism is a helm or a "pirate's ship wheel"

We got back on the time machine and we traveled to ancient China, in 372 - 289 BCE
Nǐ hǎo!! Welcome class to China! I am the founder of Confucianism, Kongzi! I believe in mercy, social order and fulfillment of responsibilities. I don't believe in gods though.

The Book of Odes, Documents of changes and rites, and Spring and Autumn annals are what we mainly focus on.

We worship in temples just like this one! and I made our symbol the yin yang:

Here, school students like you all take Civil Service Exams that test you for a compatible job! The reason Confucianism practices this is because we believe if you are smart enough to have a great job, you should be able to do so, no matter how much wealth you inherit.
