Born and death

Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928 and died on May 20, 2014. She lived in ST. Louis Missouri. Before she died, she lived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Family

Maya only had one brother. She gave birth to a son at 16 years old and was named Guy Johnson. Her mom and dad got divorced when she was three.

One fact about Maya was that she was a close friend with Martin Luther King Jr. but sadly he died on Maya's birthday. She sometimes does not like to have her birthday because of that.

 Maya was an important leader because she also celebrate her life, her contributions, and the wisdom she shared with the world. She was a poet, author, teacher, historian, activist, leader and mentor who taught us what it means to live and lead with your heart in every facet of life. . This will help me to be a better leader because she taught me to be a good person in life.
