Indoor and outdoor materials/equipment
-Equipment must be used in a safe and appropriate manner with the manufacturer's instructions, recommendations, and intended use.
-All equipment and furniture must be used only by the age-appropriate group of children
- Equipment and furniture shall be free from hazardous conditions examples include; sharp rough edges or toxic paint and shall be kept clean.
Adult supervision in an indoor and outdoor environment
Children should be supervised at all times.
The persons supervising in the child care area must be alert, able to respond promptly to the needs and actions of the children being supervised, and provide timely attention to the children's actions and needs.
Child ratios
-Infants less than 1 year old who are not walking have a 1:6 ratio with the max of 12 children
-One (1) year olds who are walking have a 1:8 ratio with the max of 16 children
-Two (2) year olds 1:10 with the max of 20 children
Child ratios
Three (3) year olds 1:15 with the max of 30 children
-Four (4) year olds 1:18 36
-Five (5) year olds 1:20 40
-Six (6) years and older 1:25 50
Bathrooms
-Required facilities shall be provided in the following minimum ratios for the use of all children
-Should be located on each floor
-Ventilation is required
-Supplies such as toilet paper and soap need to be in easy reach for children.
-Cleaned daily
-One working sink and toilet for every 25 students.
Diapering areas
-Ventilation is required
-Hand washing sink is required
-Supplies available such as diapers, soap, and cloths
-Smooth diaper changing station
-Location of diapering area should not be located near the cooking area
-Infants and children shall not be left unattended while being diapered or having their clothes changed on the diaper changing surface.
Safe sleep and resting requirements
Cribs shall be free of hazards. Stack cribs and cribs with drop sides shall not be used.
Each crib shall have only an individual, tight-fitting sheet which is changed daily or more often as needed and prior to a change of occupant.
Mats must be in good repair,washable, covered with waterproof material and at least two inches thick.
A light cover shall be available for each child's use and shall be marked for individual use or laundered daily. If marked for individual use, they must be laundered weekly or more frequently if needed.
Safe sleep and resting requirements
Hygiene
-Contagious Diseases. Staff, or any other persons being supervised by the Staff, shall not be allowed in the Center who knowingly have or present symptoms of a fever or diarrhea.
-Garbage and organic waste shall be stored in containers that are lined with plastic liners and have tight-fitting covers.
-Children's hands shall be washed with liquid soap and warm running water.
-Toilet potty chairs shall after each use be emptied by disposal in a flush toilet, cleaned with a disinfectant, and stored in the bathroom.
