EQUIPMENT
Equipment and furniture shall be free from hazardous conditions such as, but not limited to, sharp rough edges or toxic paint and shall be kept clean.
TOYS
A variety of age-appropriate toys and play materials shall be available. They shall be stored on low, open shelves accessible to children in each room or assigned area
STAFF AND CHILD RATIO SUPERVISION
A Center must establish groupings of children for care and maintain Staff to child ratios
1 Year olds that can walk max:16 1:8
2 Year olds max:20 Students 1:10
3 Year olds max:30 Students 1:15
4 year olds max:36 Students 1:18
5 Year olds max:40 Students 1:20
6 Year olds max:50 Students 1:25
BATHROOMS
Bathrooms shall be within easy reach of children and equipped with soap, toilet tissue and single use towels or cloth towels used only once between launderings. Bathrooms shall be cleaned daily with a disinfectant.
FIELD TRIPS
A Center shall obtain written permission from Parent(s) in advance of the child's participation in any field trip and such permission must be signed and dated by a Parent.Child ratios must be maintained on a trip and an additional Employee.Each child on a field trip should have on their person there name and the centers address and telephone number.
MEDICATIONS
Personnel shall not dispense
prescription or non-prescription medications to a child without specific written authorization from the child's
physician or Parent.
unused medications should be returned to the parents immediately.
HYGIENE
Children's hands shall be washed with liquid soap and warm running water after any form of activities and upon arrival. staff should also have their hands washed at all times.
Cups shall be discarded after each use unless the cups are sanitized in a dishwasher between EACH use
DIAPERING
A hand washing sink with running heated water should be adjacent to the diapering area.If diapers are changed on a diaper changing surface, the surface well managed, and equipped with a guard or rails to prevent falls , it should also not be used for food preparation. It must be clear of formulas, food, food utensils and food preparation items.
