Nemesis is the goddess of divine retribution and revenge. She is also the goddess that kept balance in the life of a man. Nemesis' symbol is a balance scale. The reason for this is because it symbolizes how she keeps balance in the world and in people. Nemesis also lived in the underworld with Hecate.

It is unknown who Nemesis' parents are because in some myths it is said that Nyx is her mother and her only parent while others say that she has a father named Oceanus or that her father was Zeus. Nemesis is the sister of Momos, Moros, Keres, Thanatos, Hypnos, the tribe of Oneiroi, Moirai, Apate, Philotes, Geras, and Eiris.
