They were told to look on a boat called Nelly off the coast of Massachusetts. They never found Nelly. A month after being told about Nelly a truck driver walked into the woods about 100 yards to relieve himself. The poor man found little Charles body. What Happened to Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. ?
The Mystery
The question that lingers is who really was the kidnapper of Charles Lindbergh Jr.?
Most people think the kidnapper is Bruno Richard Hauptmann. During this whole ordeal Bruno went by the Alias John. All the signs pointed to Bruno. For instance the ladder used to sneak into the child's room was built by somebody mostly a carpenter, witch Bruno was. Second they found lots of money in his house, most of which were the bills the Lindbergh's had given in ransom. Finally they tested his handwriting to the ransom note, and the handwriting was almost a perfect match.
Theory 1: Bruno Richard Hauptmann
Not everybody believed Bruno was the kidnapper. When they arrested him he claimed that his buddy who was never announced gave him the money. He mentioned he was just keeping it for a friend for a while. In addition the defense for Hauptmann tried to say that the wood couldn't be connected to him. Nothing they said stook.
