Hello and Welcome to the Louisiana Purchase.

The Louisiana Purchase was made by president Thomas Jefferson in 1803. He bought about 828,000 square miles of land from the French.

At first everybody working with President Jefferson didn't want him to buy this land. They didn't think that Jefferson had the right to make such a large purchase.
