Roosevelt wanted to help end depression. He thought of the New Deal that would create programs to help people who was to poor to afford the items they needed. The programs were called the new deals.

Roosevelt helped build many things like, 88 schools, renovated 31 gymnasiums, built 348 swimming pools. He has spent over 200 million dollars on North Carolina Projects. Congress passed 47 programs to stabilize America. They provided relief to framers and unemployed families. In the first 16 days he had 16 new agencies passed into law. He launched multiplies deal throughout his term.

The New Deal was passed by Congress and the President, but Republicans were split with conservation's opposing the entire New Deal. Some people argued that the government had to right to come in and try to change everything. Also they say it didn't work because the Great Depression lasted so long.

If you didn't work for the government or someone in it you could have direct relief so you could have money to buy food. He had deals so people could go get jobs if they didn't have one already.
