April 4, 1968
- MLKJ was staying in at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. He was shot by james Earl Ray. The motel was owned by Walter Bailey and named after his wife.

Bobby Kennedy
June 5, 1968
Bobby was short by Sirhan Sirhan after midnight PTD at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. In the 1968 election he won the California presidential primaries.


The Tet Offensive
January 30, 1968- September 23, 1968
Uprising of a Tet Mau Than in 1968 by North Vietnam and the NLF. Largest millitary campaign of the Vietnam War. This weakened the public support of the war.


Walter Cronkite
February 20, 1968
Walter Cronkite spoke for the last 3 minutes of the broadcast expressing his opinion on The Tet Offensive rather than reading off the teleprompter. At the time, he was known as "The most trusted man in America".

Nixon's Strategy's
Nixon's strategy to end the US involvement in Vietnam was to "expand, equip, and train South Vietnamese forces and assign to them an ever-increasing combat role, at the same time steadily reducing the number of US combat troops." This was known as Vietnamization.
Kent State
Four Kent State University students were killed and nine were injured on May 4, 1970 when members of the Ohio National Guard opened fire during a Vietnam War protest.
My Lai Massacre
On Mardch 16, 1968, military brutally executed hundreds of alleged members and supporters of the 48th Battalion of the NFL.
When did we leave Vietnam?
Direct involvement from the U.S. ended August 15, 1973.
