This story is dedicated to all the hard working second grade science teachers!

Class, today we will be learning about matter! Matter can be either a solid, liquid or a gas!

First, we are going to talk about solids. A solid is something that cannot change it's shape, like an apple, a pencil, the table you are all sitting at, or the bricks behind me.

Next, we are going to talk about liquids. Liquids take the shape of the container that they are in, and cannot hold a shape by themselves like a solid. Some examples of liquids are water, juice, milk, or the ocean.

Lastly, we are going to talk about gasses. Gasses cannot be trapped in a container like liquids or hold a shape like solids. Some example of gasses are the helium that makes a balloon rise, the air we breath, or the clouds in the sky.

Class, you all have done a fantastic job learning about Matter and will do great on your end of the year SOL!
