Robert E. Lee was born Jan. 19, 1807 at Stafford Hall estate in Virginia. His das is Henry "Light Horse" Harry Lee the 3rd. He was a Revolutionary War hero.
Robert E. Lee went to school at West Point University. He graduated second in his class.
He married Mary Anna Randolph Custis, great-granddaughter of Martha Washington.
He served in the Mexican American war. He was very successful. He lead us to many victories.
Abraham Lincoln offered Lee a position in the Union Army. He chose to fight for the Confederacy instead due to his inability to fight against Virginia.
Lee was named to one of the Confederacy's first full generals
Lee was brilliant until 1863. He had many significant wins but lost general Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson in the process.
Yet his invasion of Gettysburg failed. It was a massive defeat. Many say the loss of Jackson was a reason for this blunder.
