Hello, I am Captain Worldwide
Are you ready to go on an adventure with me all around the world to explore the world's religions. Let's go!
Hinduism
Hindus believe in only one god, just like Christians. Also, they have a trinity which consists of the gods Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu. They have two main categories of Hindu holy scriptures. Those two scriptures are called Shruti and Smriti. Their most sacred god is Brahma. Hindus believe he is the creator of everything and he is their one God. But, they have other gods that they pray to. Their place of worship is called a Mandir. It is a huge building made of only stone and is beautifully ornate and decorated. One festival that they celebrate is called the Diwali. It lasts five days and celebrates the Hindu new year by putting up lamps and lights. Hinduism is beautiful religion full of culture.

Our first stop, India! This is were Hinduism is most widely practiced in temples like this one.
Buddhism
Buddhism is named after the person who started it, Buddha. Before Buddha became Buddha, which means "enlightened one", he was Prince Siddhartha. Prince Siddhartha became enlightened after he saw all that was wrong with the world and wanted to fix it. Buddhists believe in many teachings of Buddha, such as the Four Noble Truths. Their holy scriptures include the Tipitaka, which was written by Sri Lankans. The Tipitaka is divided into three baskets. One holy person in Buddhism is the Dalai Lama. He is a reincarnation of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Buddhists worship in temples, like the Stupa and Pagoda. The festival of Hana Mastsuri celebrates the birthday of Buddha.

Next, China! In this beautiful country, Buddhism is a popular religion.
Sikhism
Sikhs believe in one God, just like Christians, and they call him Satnam or Waheguru. Gurus, who are respected teachers, were killed and persecuted, so the last guru, Gobind Singh, began the Khalsa. The Khalsa Panth is a brotherhood that was created in order to protect Sikhs all around the world. Sikhs must be initiated in order to be in the Khalsa Panth. The Sikhs' sacred scripture is called the Guru Granth Sahib. All ten gurus are sacred to Sikhs, especially the first one, Nanak. The place of worship in Sikhism is called a Gurdwara. Before entering the Gurdwara, Sikhs must take off their shoes and cover their heads. The Nanak Jayanti is a festival that celebrates the birthday of guru Nanak.

Back in India, Sikhism is another religion that's prominent.
