Once upon a time, the nation's first President was born! His name was George Washington and little did he know that he would make a great impact on his country. George would even have a holiday to celebrate him!
At a very early age, George learned that telling the truth was the right thing to do.
He had just been given a chore by his mother to chop some tree limbs up but after he finished he wanted to continue chopping and came across the cherry trees. George chopped one of his fathers prized cherry tree's.
When George's father found his tree had been chopped down, he questioned everyone in the household how had that happened and no one could tell him what happened. George went straight to his father to tell him the truth about what he had done. George's father was so proud of him for telling the truth.

As George grew, he decided he wanted to fight for his country and the rights of his people, shortly after, he became a delegate for the state of Virginia and attended the first and second Continental Congress.
George worked so hard he was appointed as General of the continental army.

Yes! Victory is ours!
General Washington led his country to a victory against the British that ended in 1781.
On February 4th of 1789, Congress, elected George Washington as the first President of the United States!
