"Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else,
it will never be where you are."
This story was originally written as a high school assignment, backed by a life-long enjoyment of writing. It was resurrected over a decade later as people in my life began to have to children that may enjoy it. I hope you enjoy it, as well!

Gus the giraffe was just a small guy. And every so often, he’d look up at the sky. And wish he were far, far away somewhere new. To have an adventure, or possibly two!
What else is there to see in this world?

He wanted to leap with the tigers in trees. He wanted to swim with the fish in the sea. He wanted to soar with the birds in the air He wanted to wrestle a great grizzly bear. He wanted to try all these thrilling, new things.
"This is just what I need, to make my heart sing!"
One day, as he grazed in the tall, wavy grass, a monkey appeared with a little spyglass. “So you wanna get out, an adventure you seek? Well, my name is Garbanzo and I’ll give you a week.”
With a SNAP and a POP, and before he could yell, Gus found himself in a magical spell.

Say the name of a place, he could go where he pleased. For a week this went on, and it wasn’t a tease! Gus leapt with the tigers up high in the trees, he swam with the fish deep below in the sea. He soared with the birds in the vast, sweeping air. He wrestled (and won!) with the great grizzly bear.

Ok, ok, you win!!
