Hello My name is Mr. Ant!

And I am Andy ant!

Today I will teach you and Andy ant about 

the conservation of energy.

What is the conservation of energy?

It means energy can't be destroyed or created. 

Even if an object is not moving, it still has energy.

There are two types of 

energy, potential and kinetic 

energy.

What is potential 

energy?

Potential energy is when an object is at 

rest. But that doesn't mean that energy 

isn't there.

So energy isn't being 

destroyed, got it! So, 

what is Kinetic energy?

Kinetic energy is the 

kind of energy an object 

has when it is moving.

An object that is moving has kinetic 

energy. I am starting to understand.

A good example is a roller 

coaster. When the roller 

coaster is moving it has 

kinetic energy and when its 

going up the hill or on the hill it 

has potential energy.

Hey I learned about an 

equation in physics!

Yes! you can calculate potential energy by 

using an equation such as mass times 

gravity times height.

So if I have a 1 

kg brick and 

you drop it 

from 5 meters 

high, what 

would be my 

Potential 

energy?

Since the gravity is 9.8 

meters over seconds you 

will multiply that by 1 

than multiply by 5.
