A book of stories for all my children, grand and great
-Dot Decker

It was time once again for Drippy and Slippy to go on an adventure!
“Hip! Hip! Hurrah!” the two raindrops shouted.
Down, down, down they fall. Together, still holding hands.
The two rain drops landed in a soft squishy place. One second it was nice and bright, then a door slammed closed, and it was dark. Light and dark over and over. Slippy and Drippy were frightened and confused, they couldn’t figure it out. Until they then heard a grouchy and angry voice say,
“Will you two drops get out of my eye!!!” Then Drippy realized they landed in Mr. Gator's eye!
“ Oh my, Oh my goodness, what to do now?” Drippy cried. Just as fear started to melt Slippy into a puddle, they heard another sweet voice say “over here love, come over here with me.”

There was Fairy Princess floating by on her lilly pad. Gator didn't want them in his eye, so he gave a big blink and splashed them right onto the lily pad with the Fairy Princess!

In a grouchy voice Mr Gator announced, “Haven’t you learned your lessons on how to land yet?”
“No, No sir, we didn’t know about any lessons on how to land,” said Drippy.
“Well you better learn and stop annoying others!” said Mr. Gator.
Fairy Princess laughed and said “oh never mind him. He is rough and grouchy, but he will give you a big ride on his back anytime I ask him.”
"Do you know about "Landing Lessons?" Slippy asked the Fairy Princess.
“No” Fairy Princess said, “when I was learning to fly my mother always said to be sure to look and plan before I took off so that I wouldn’t be caught in a spiders web.”
“Looking and planning, that sounds like a good first lesson.” said Drippy.
"It is a good one for me because there are some beautiful flowers that are so very sticky that you can never get out of their petals, and also I don't like to tangle with the very bad bee hives.
You see, a fairy is very light, so we have to be extra careful where we land. Not everything is good, even things that look so beautiful."

“That also sounds like a good lesson ” said Drippy. “I guess not everything that looks so good is really good for you”
“Fairy Princess, do you have any advice for Slippy on how to overcome his habit of slipping down into a puddle every time he gets afraid?” asked Drippy.

Sadly, Fairy Princess said “No. But maybe Queen Fairy might know how to help! Let’s go ask her! It is a long way across the lake so I will ask Mr. Gator to ride you across.” “Oh No, please don’t ask Mr. Gator!” said Slippy as he started to melt down in fear immediately.

“It is the only way,” said Fairy Princess. “A little fairy princess like me could never carry two big raindrops that far.” So she put Slippy and Drippy into a lilly pad pod and they began their ride on Mr. Gator’s back. All was arranged and off they went across the lake.

Fairy Princess then waved to the Drops as she flew off on her Dragon Fly.

At first it was very quite on the ride on Mr. Gators back as Slippy and Drippy were too afraid to speak. Mr. Gator was also very quiet, just making swishing noises as he swiftly moved his tail through the water.
Drippy started to notice the beautiful flowers along the edge of the lake, and she also noticed some animals. They appeared to be friendly animals, talking with each other, and even waving at Mr. Gator. She noticed Mr. Gator give a quick nod.
This got Drippy to thinking that maybe Mr. Gator wasn’t so bad. Although he really does look awfully scary; but those forest animals don’t seem to be afraid of him.
This gave her the courage to ask him a question.
Drippy asked, “Mr. Gator, are you afraid of anything?”
Mr. Gator immediately responded with a loud chuckle “Me afraid, of course I’m afraid! I’m afraid of so many things!”
This caught Slippy’s attention and he perked up a bit. Drippy was also surprised to hear this and asked “what would scare a big gator like you?”

Mr. Gator proceeded to explain; “just because I may look big and scary to you doesn’t mean that I actually am scary. It also doesn’t mean I’m not afraid of anything. There are a lot of things that can scare me. Would you believe scary little rain drops in my eye for example.”
Drippy immediately chimed in, “We are not scary raindrops!”
Mr. Gator said “Well I am not a scary Gator. I guess I just look that way”.
Drippy and Slippy now had a new perspective on things. They had not realized that big and scary looking things might not actually be scary.
