To my nephew Dylan. My little Dinosaur.

My name is Dylan. I am a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and this is my first year in school.

I was so excited to start school, but now I do not want to go.
You see they are mean to me. All those kids I don’t know.
They laugh at my arms, and giggle when I walk by.
They move my chair when I try to sit down, and I must try not to cry.

They don’t want to be my friend. And I don’t understand why.
Is It because I am too tall? Or because I am too shy?

They started a chant for every time I went by. “Dinosaurs can’t go to school” they would say. So, I just ducked my head to hide.

One day I was walking on the playground and I heard a whole group chant “Dinosaurs can’t go to school”. So, I took a deep breath and I stopped and asked “why”?

The group went silent, and one boy blurted out. “Because you might eat us when snack time comes around”
“Eat you?” I asked with disbelief. “I don’t eat humans. I just eat Chicken nuggets.”
The group gasped. “But But... dinosaurs are mean”.
