There are thousands of living things that live in the mangroves. Mangroves are under threat from plastics in our waterways. If we destroy the mangroves they will lose their habitat and have nowhere to live.

The mangroves are trees or bushes that grow in wide bunches along riverbanks. They have a broad tangle of roots which grows through the mud. The roots help stop the waves from taking all the sand and dirt from the coastline.

To save the environment we should be putting plastic into the right bins. Using glass or stainless steel water bottles are a great way to stop the use of plastics.

Mangroves protect the the coastline from erosion this is caused by acting as wave and windbreaks. They protect the outlying coral reefs by absorbing freshwater run-off from the land (excess fresh water eventually leads to the reducing of salinity of the sea water and this leads to reef damage.) The use of plastics gets shown in our mangroves.
