This Book Is Dedicated To All My Family and Friends That Have Encouraged Me To Write. I Could Not Have Done Any Of It Without You.

My family and I live a very modest house at the edge of a small town. The country side is all around us. Every once in a while we pile in the car and take a trip to the city.
It is a lot different there with all of the hustle and bustle with cars going everywhere.

We see a lot of different people there that look like they are always in a hurry. They carry books, packages, groceries, umbrellas, and the list goes on.
Some of them have smiling faces, but for the most part, they don't even make eye contact.
We keep to ourselves and do the things we came to the city to do.

Time moves fast in the city, because it takes so much time to get from one place to another. There are lots of buildings, and streets full of noise. If you take you eyes off of your destination, or your family, you could end up in a situation you never intended to be in.
That is what happened to me.
Mom, Dad, and my little brother Lenny wanted to shop at this little corner market. It is one that we always stop at to get sandwiches.
I decided to go around the corner to see the if the toy store was still there. It was.
"Go there and nowhere else," Mom told me.
"Okay," I answered.
I got into the store, and began to look around.
This was probably the best stop of all the places we go to. We like to shop here. I found rows of different games, little toy cars, things to put together, and the list goes on. I got distracted by all the things around me.
Time stood still.
I heard the bell of the opening door go off, but didn't think anything of it. I was knelt down looking at some lower shelves.
I kept on looking.
After awhile I decided to leave, go back around the corner to the market.
When I got inside I could not find my family. I asked the man behind the counter if he had seen them.
"They left a little while ago looking for you," he said. "They were going to go to the toy store."
I was getting a little nervous.
Going back out onto the sidewalk, I looked in all directions. I even went back into the toy store to see if we had just missed each other.
They were nowhere to be seen.
I didn't know which direction to go in. Down both sides of all the sidewalks I could see wall to wall people.

None of them looked like my family. I even hollered their names.
"Mom, Dad, Lenny," I yelled. "Where are you?"
There was no answer.
"What am I going to do?" I thought to myself.
I am just a little boy, and I could get swept up in these crowds of people where they will never find me.
