This is a watermelon named Red who is very lonely. He wanted to go on an adventure.

"Let's go down to the Platehouse!" said Red with a grin.

Red fell onto a plate with all his friends. He was having a great conversation until someone picked him up by the rind and put him to their mouth.

Red was on the most exciting adventure. He entered the mouth and was being chomped up by the teeth. That is an example of a physical change.

The tongue is a muscle in the mouth that pushes the food to the back teeth. Red is now bolus. Bolus is when the food gets changed to a big pile of mush. Red is now ready for the next stage of digestion.

Red has been having the time of his life. He doesn't want it to end so he goes even further down. His next stop was in the esophagus.

"What a yummy piece of watermelon!"

The esophagus pushes the food down by using smooth muscles the role of peristalsis is kind of like an elevator only going down squishing the food to the stomach.
