This story is dedicated to my professor whose class I am writing this for.
Also to all of the children and staff I have the honour of working with at ACE Child Development Centre.

It was a sunny morning at Aceland Zoo,
Elephant couldn't decide what to do!
Frog suggests a picnic in the park,
A fun adventure on which to embark!

They must decide what each will bring,
Who they'll invite, and what songs they'll sing.
Elephant yells "Fish!" as the first friend in mind,
Frog yells "Giraffe!" as she is always so kind!
Elephant yells "Monkey!" with a jump and a spin,
Frog ribbits with excitement as the friends begin!

Monkey says he'll find a spot to eat,
Perhaps a blanket where they'll all take a seat.

Elephant says he'll bring them drinks,
Frog says "dessert!" as he hops and he winks.

Giraffe says she will bring salad and flare,
Fish says she'll bring her favourite food to share!

With that the friends go get what they need,
Their picnic will be such a blast, indeed!
The friends had agreed to meet back at noon,
On this beautiful, warm, sunny day in June.

The friends are all back to meet at their spot,
Eager to see what everyone brought.
Monkey said he would bring somewhere to sit,
Though all he brought was his smile and wit.

"But where will we eat?" asks his friends in despair,
He points up to a tree and says "over there!"

"Let's go!" he says and he tells them to climb,
They were willing to try but they had a hard time.

Elephant said he would bring something to drink,
But he has no cups, not even a sink!
He holds out a big red bowl with pride,
Icy cold water sloshes inside.

The friends had forgotten about Elephant's trunk,
But I guess it'll be fun to go for a dunk!

Giraffe had promised a salad with flare,
She pulls out her tree and they look up and stare!

"We forgot about your long neck, Giraffe!"
"Well you'll just have to try!" she says with a laugh.
