These are cells.
Cool right? Wrong.
They are very complicated. So complicated that they have a whole theory on cells. It explains that cells came from pre-existing cells and that cells make up all living things. It also explains that cells are the basic unit of structure in living organisms.
There are 2 types of cells.
This is a Prokaryotic cell.
And this a Eukaryotic cell.
A Prokaryote is unicellular and Autotrophic meaning it makes food by light, unlike a Eukaryote which is Multicellular and can be Heterotrophic, which gets food from other organisms, or they can be Autotrophic as well. Unicellular means one cell.
Multicellular means more than one cell.
The difference between the 2 types of cells are that the Prokaryotic cells have a cell wall. Prokaryotic cells do not contain a nucleus or any other membrane-bound organelle. Bacteria are an example of Prokaryotes.
Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus. Eukaryotes can be single-celled or multi-celled such as you, me, plants, fungi, animals, and insects. Eukaryotic cells contain membrane-bound organelles, such as the nucleus. Eukaryotic cells only have cell walls if they are plant cells or fungi cells.
Cells go through a process called Mitosis.
It's basically a scientific way to say the cells life.
The 5 main phases of mitosis are
-Interphase
-Prophase
-Metaphase
-Anophase
-Telophase
Interphase is the phase of the cell cycle in which a typical cell spends most of its life. During this phase the cell copies its DNA in preparation for mitosis.
Prophase is the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells. During Prophase, the complex of DNA and proteins contained in the nucleus, known as chromatin, condenses.
